Optimization model to support sustainable crop planning for reducing unfairness among farmers

Agri-food production must increase while food waste needs to be reduced for improving the position of farmers. To do so it is necessary sustainably manage agri-food supply chains beginning with crop planning decisions. Although centralized approach has usually been adopted this purpose, can lead unfair solutions due inequitable distribution profits among farmers causing their unwillingness collaborate in implementation decisions made. solve this, paper a novel multi-objective mathematical programming model proposed support sustainable definition region that jointly optimize three objectives aligned sustainability aspects: chain maximization (economic objective), minimization (environmental objective) and unfairness (social being last two literature. It also shown conflicting nature finding trade-offs them. Other novelties proposal are: (1) anticipation operative (such as harvest, transport, sale, clearance unmet demand) when defining planning, (2) possibility clearing oversupply crops means increasing farmers’ reducing waste, (3) modelling characterized by lack intermediaries between retailers, fostering freshest product delivery power position. The solved applying weighted sum method concluding generated along considerably little decreasing optimal SC profits.
